Venezia Verticals
On the Piazza San Marco, the Campanile (bell tower built in 1912 to replace one that collapsed in 1902) is located next to the Zecca, designed by Sansovino and started in 1537. Serving as the city mint until 1870, the Zecca gave its name to the zecchino or Venetian Ducat. Street lamps, pigeons, bells and architecture create an air of excitement in Venezia (Venice). ss
